When I insert the xD card into the internal 5-in-1 reader, dmesg gives absolutely no indication that something has changed. Plugging in my external USB xD card reader generates the dmesg report. Olympus xd picture card reader not working software#
Like most programs of its type, you can run it in an evaluation mode whereby it will tell you if it can find any images for rescuing before you spend out on the product (which is about £35). The software works in read-only mode and never writes on your XD-picture card so your data as well card is uninterrupted. i downloaded several data recovery software programs and they don't work. The first two (generic) programs I tried didn't work (they didn't recognise the card) but the third program ("F-Recovery for xD-Picture", which as the name suggest is specifically for xD-Picture) found and recovered about 95% of the photos. Normally I wouldn't bother trying to rescue images frmo a corrupted memory card, but on this occasion it was the photos of my first born's birth, so imagine my horror when I stuck my Olympus xD-Picture Card into the card reader and got an error message! I put the card back in the camera and the message there was 'Card needs formatting'.Ī quick search on the Internet threw up several software packages which claimed they were able to recover data from a corrupted memory card that claims it needs formatting.
